🚨 Trial date set

Following a case management hearing at Southwark Crown Court, a proposed trial date has now been set for the Serious Fraud Office’s Operation Hazel.

This significant case involves charges against six individuals in connection with a complex pension fraud investigation, where £75 million in pension funds were transferred into storage units based mainly in the North of England and Scotland.

Between 2011 and 2014, over 1,900 UK investors transferred their pensions into self-invested personal pensions to invest in storage units sold by UK storage company Store First. The SFO alleges that misrepresentations were made in the marketing of the product, including promises of guaranteed returns and claims that units were ready for rental.

The charges include conspiracy to defraud, money laundering, and Perjury Act offences against Toby Whittaker, Stephen Michael Talbot, Stuart Grehan, Terence Wright, Emma Hawkins and Tom Smith.
