On Monday, the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) announced a landmark step having successfully recovered £1.1 million of proceeds of crime following an investigation assisted by our first-ever Unexplained Wealth Order (UWO).

The SFO are the second law enforcement authority to successfully use an UWO, a powerful investigative tool allowing law enforcement to question how individuals acquired assets that appear disproportionate to their known income.

Our investigators traced criminal funds to a five-bedroom property called ‘Hope Springs House’ belonging to Claire Schools, ex-wife of convicted fraudster Timothy Schools.
