Today, six defendants charged with multiple offences as part of a £75 million SFO fraud investigatio

Today, six defendants charged with multiple offences as part of a £75 million SFO fraud investigation made their first appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

The SFO alleges that Toby Whittaker, Stephen Michael Talbot, Stuart Grehan (also known as Stuart Chapman-Clark), Terence Wright and Emma Hawkins (also known as Emma Grehan) conspired to defraud over 1,900 investors who transferred their pensions into self-invested personal pensions to invest in a ‘store-pod’ product between 2011 and 2014. Sixth defendant, Tom Smith, appeared on a money laundering charge.

The SFO launched its investigation into the case in 2016, following alleged criminality around several pension schemes. The six defendants were charged last month with conspiracy to defraud, money laundering and Perjury Act offences.

The defendants will face a hearing at Southwark Crown Court on 30th September.
