The Serious Fraud Office has secured confiscation orders against two former directors in relation to its investigation into Global Forestry Investments.

Following a long running investigation, Andrew Skeene and Omari Bowers were sentenced to 11 years imprisonment in 2022. Earlier this year their convictions were upheld by the Court of Appeal.

They were both convicted of defrauding over 2,000 investors of £37 million between 2010-2015, promising safe, high returns from Brazilian forestry investments.

The confiscation orders secured this week will recover £170,000 from Skeene who must pay within three months or face an additional two years in prison. Co-defendant Omari Bowers has no assets to seize. He was ordered to pay a nominal sum and investigators have legal powers to re-open action against him in the future if necessary.
