📑 The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Germany has presented its annual report for the year 2024. The number of transmitted analysis reports rose to 87,731, reaching a new record high. At the same time, the reporting volume decreased for the second consecutive year. 💠 A thematic focus was on financial transactions related to cryptocurrencies. The number of corresponding suspicious activity reports reached its highest value to date. A case documented in the annual report exemplifies how fraudulent structures combine digital payment methods, traditional financial channels, and fictitious identities to move and conceal assets across borders. 🌐 The fight against cross-border financial crime also required close ties to multilateral cooperation formats in the reporting year.
